So This basically started as a school project. I like making 3d models in my spare time and I would like to have a catalogue of what I have done so i can look back at them someday. This is where I will catalog all most of the 3D meshes/models i have done on Maya and some Blender too.

Bits And Bobs
Just want you guys to know that i have made some mechanical parts to work with but i still haven't decided what i want to make... maybe it will be a little steam-punk robot ^^
Work in progress
it has been a long time sines i last updated but anyway i have started on making the monster in maya and this is what i have come up with. it's not much but i will put this on hold because my cousin; Jas asked me to make a steam-punk design of... whatever i want which would be hard ;) but i think i am going to stick to a simpler design even if i do not know what it is yet. so i will work on that before continuing on my weird monster.

Gun Model
I have finished the gun model that i was planing to do in Maya. i know it's a simple design and there is nothing special about it but i made it from scratch and only my imagination as reference. this is also the first time that i have made a gun model it kinda looks like a shotgun with a pointy at the bottom edge. ^^ hope you like.
I'm Back
Hello again. I'm back.
I made up a to do list on the upper bar thingy so you can check out what i am planing to do :)
I have already started with making a gun from scratch in Maya so i will post some pics soon

First UV Maped Textuerd Model
unwrapping the object UV is a pain on the ass but after that it's smooth riding.

Trying out new things
I has been a few days now and i have found allot of animated meshes on youtube so i figured maybe I could give it a try i mean how hard could it be. After looking for tutorials for a long time i found this tutorial for 'basic' walk animation. I had to 'rig' the character it means to add some bones and joints before i could animate it so i said to my self well ok lets do this... well it turned to be hard as hell i watched the tutorial over and over and over and could only do half the stuff that i was supposed to do. i gave up on animating my own object and just downloaded a simple rigged character and tried it out it turned out to be pretty easy. all you had to do is drag the leg and set it on a frame and you are good to go the only hard part is rigging the model for animation.
i think i am going to stick to just modeling for now and maybe start making textures
here was the model that i was trying to animate but it did not went well.

Maya Helm
Ok I have done a simple helm which took all day to do because Maya had some problems saveing the mesh when i loaded the scene it was blank but luckily i discovered that early on. the reason for that was i forgot to delete all the history. don't know why you have to delete the history but if it works, it works. I am really getting used to Maya now and it is actually much easier than Blender on some cases.
The mesh had some vertex issues when i smoothed it but what the hell it's just a test run ^^

First Maya Creation
yeah :D made something in Mayabut with the help of this tutorial at least i am learning. I just need to learn all the shortcuts to really get into Maya, right now i have just learnt the basic of mesh creating, at least Maya makes a little sense now. And now without further a due the object is... a delicious strawberry ice cream YAY *people cheering*^^
Sword is finnished
after many hours of blending and asking the teacher i am finally done. I had to take down the number of polygon count but that did not take so much time. i think it really looks good. I have learnd alot on how to make models, how to conect faces so that they will look good... It's realy har do write down everything that i have learnt but I think i covered most of it on the last posts.

Danial said that the next time we are going to work in 3D is going to be on Maya so... Maya here I come. ^^

Curve Tutorial

to start go into the small window to the right you can go in to the object modifiers (1) which is very useful where you can add a lot of properties but I use the curve, smooth, subdivide and mirror properties.

and there you have it a curvy mesh :)
Blender Tips
I have been working on blender for a while now.. well that is not true i have been working on blender almost 24/7 ever since we have started the sword project, and i have learned a lot and picked a lot of handy tricks. So I am going to share my knowledge to you and here is all the things that i have learned plus in the near future i am going to make some tutorials for as a lot of my classmates are asking for help:
be careful when adding vertices as to many vertices can be to much to handle and even tho you can make it look the polygons will be to much when it is transferred to a game or something else, just make it as simple as possible.
when making a model start out with its basic form then start to cave in the detail, just like carving wood
also here are some useful hotkeys:
Tab - switches between the two modes that you have recently used. I usually use it when switching between edit mode and object mode.
Z - will change the mesh into a wire-frame
Ctrl Z - this would be the undo and if you hold in Ctrl + Shift Z it would redo.
X - in object mode it will delete the object. In the edit mode you will be given more options like deleteing an edge, face or vertices it is useful when you want to rearrange the edges of a face or takeing out a vertices that isn't needed.
G - will move the selected object and after pressing G you can also press X, Y or Z to move the object on it's respective axis.
C - it is a select brush, use it to select vertices faster.
S - will scale the object, again you can use the X, Y or Z to scale the respective axis.
F - you have to be in edit mode and have 3 or 4 vertices connected to each other forming a triangle or square to make a face, you can also loop a lot of vertices and press Alt F to atomaticaly make a faces but it gives less control over the mesh.
E - this is the extrude button and only works in edit mode. This is useful when you want make more faces without having to make individual vertices which will take more time.
R - will rotate the object, face or edge. use the X, Y or Z to rotate it on it's axis.
A - will select objects or all vertices depending on which mode you are in.
Alt M - will merge selected vertices. i found this useful when removing exes vertices or using extrude on two vertices then merging them together to make a new point on the line.
K - will cut the selected edge or face making a new vertices.
Ctrl + Shift R - will cut the face loop and if you scroll up it will make more devisions.
Ctrl T - will convert square faces to triangle faces.
Alt J - will convert triangle faces to square faces.
V - will separate the merged vertices.
N - will bring up the properties bar where you can place the coordinates on the X, Y and Z and in object mode you can rotate your object.
