Basic Blender Tutorial

I found a pretty good blender tutorial for all of those who are interested in making 3D models on Blender. It goes though all the basic things you need to know to start blending :) The video has an older version of blender but all of the shortcuts and most of the interface are the same so it is still useful to look at.

Just Couldn't Wait Till Friday

I couldn't stay away from blender I just love making 3d models. I worked on the handle and i think I'm am done but that doesn't mean that I will stop working on it. i'm going to ask my teacher; Danial if there is anything that I can improve on the sword on Friday.

here is the hilt and the whole thing. please I like to hear what you think, if there is something wrong or doesn't look good just tell me so i can make the sword better :) also here is the concept art if you want a compare them

Autodesk Maya

Got Autodesk Maya for free, you can also get it for free you just need to register and be a student ^^
So I tried it and all i can say is...
It was overwhelming! I got scared when i saw the interface i did not know what to do with all the new buttons. Blender and Maya have almost nothing in common when it comes to interface shortcuts. man! i couldn't even move the camera. At least Maya has an inbuilt video tutorial included on the program which I hope I'm going to have time to learn so i can be a pro :p

The interface of Maya looks much cooler than blender but five times more complicated I but maybe it's just me being used to used to Blender.

i had a little time to fiddle with the controls it looks like it can give you more control over the vertices than the interface of Blender, Blender on the other hand is more user friendly and much easier to get into it.

The Hilt Is Done

Finally after hours of working on the hilt i have finished it... for know, I think i'm going to make more faces and vertices to make it smooth when i have made everything. While i was working on the hilt I found out how to use the snap to grid function also just right now i found out how to separate vertices by pressing V. ^^

Going to start working on the last part; the handle, tomorrow. so i'll post it on Friday or later.

Blending

still getting used to haveing a blog so i am sorry for not updating. so here is what i did first i started of with a cube and extruded it to the same length but of course after a little while i found out that i could just push CtrlR and it would automatically devide it into equal lengths. after i have done that i then added a curve modifier. you can see how i have done it on the screens

i have to apologize for forgetting to take screen shots on how the sword developed but i promise to take more frequent screens in the near future.

it was easy to make the blade of the sword, i think i am finished on working on it. But i am having some trouble on the hilt it seems that what ever i do it always seems to be so boxy

i will try to post more frequently.

any ways this is how my sword looks like now

Concept Art

The sketch is done. it was kinda hard coming up with a new sword design but here it is
kinda blurry as i made it by hand but i hope you can see it. I have already made a sword on blender before so i chose to make a curvy one to make it a little bit hard for me. tell me what you think of it, good bad what ever :)

School Project

Ok, Hello i gues. my teacher said that we should make a blogg to document the proces of makeing meshes on blender, but i have never made, read or seen a blogg so please bare with me.

We are going to make a sword in blender but first we will have to make scetches of it. the whole thing is going to take  about 2 weeks, anyways  i'm going to start scetching now so. the scetches should be uploaded soon.
